I love when you can take an old piece of furniture, and make a fabulous, thrifty update. Or use chicken wire, duct tape, and unicorn dust to make a thifty statement piece from scratch. I recently found the website of a decorating MaGruber that will knock your sockets out! Check out the delish at www.allthingsthrifty.com

I know, gross. You should see the other girl. And no, I didn't catch my finger in a coffee grinder;) I got in a fight with a glass vase....and the vase won, in the way of 22 stitches. I just knew I hadn't blogged in awhile, and I had to come up with some sort of good reason....so almost cutting off my finger was the best idea...right? And you're welcome for not posting the un-bandaged photo.

This is what happens when I'm trapped inside in the ice and snow...and just because I'm crafty and sweet:) The yellow owlie was made for Hayden Wilson, the purple one for Hazel Wilson, and the tweed(y) bird was for Emily-sister-in-law-Wiser. However, these birdies haven't quite ended up at their intended destinations. Word on the (Sesame) street is that Hazel has laid claim to both the yellow AND purple owlie. And since Hayden can't even hold up her head, much less snatch-grab hers back, I guess Hayden is s.o.l. And tweed(y) owlie sure looks cute sitting in the chair by my fireplace. Sorry Emily...maybe next winter you'll get yours.

Can you believe it? I'm in the process of buying a new home! As of March 31st, I will have 2 houses, 3 laptops, 2 cell phones, 2 cars, and a partridge in a pear tree. Good thing I'm doing my part to conserve our planet's resources, right? Hey- I recycle. I've always dreamed of having an older, charming, historical home...and now that dream is about to become a reality. And for all the horror stories I've heard about bad realtors, complicated paperwork and financing, long and drawn out closings, and sheer stress associated with buying a home- I've yet to experience any of that. Especially this time around, considering I apparently found the best-rockstar-realtor on the planet. And I do mean rockstar. Thanks for helping me live the dream Eric 'Bon Jovi' Richardson! I will send many referrals your way (and lots of coffee samples)!

Of all the places in the world I would have thought would carry TOMS Shoes, Goldsby Store off of I-35 would not have been top of the list. For those of you who are not familiar, TOMS Shoes was founded on a simple premise: With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for One. Using the purchasing power of individuals to benefit the greater good. I shouldn't have been surprised that a small town, family owned business would have the thought and heart to be so passionate about such a product. So all you trendy hipsters out there, forego Neiman Marcus or Bergdorfs and get your TOMS in Goldsby! Philanthropy AND supporting a local business; win-win! I can't even believe it...where has the time gone? My little bunny-peanut-butter-cup is about to become a teenager- aaaaaaaahhh! I'm so blessed to have been part of the raising of such a beautiful young lady. I remember every little smile (there have been many), every funny thing you've done (spray 'n' wash stick as deodorant, skunk-badger vs. cop incident, gerbils in the Barbie car, etc.), and how lucky I've felt every step of the way that you've allowed me to continue to be your Aunt Sharla. Happy 13th Birthday Tooter 2! Luvs you!

Another treasure from the estate sale- thank you, Bob Willige for passing along your Oklahoma history book. Published in 1956, Harlow Publishers in Oklahoma City. I'm actually going to read this, and going out on a limb here....I think the version of our State's history in this book, might differ a little from the version we have today. I know, that's Crazy(horse) talk.

Alright PETA peeps, get ready. I've recently started getting into vintage fur- which I think is a fantastic loophole for getting fur- recycling old fur without growing the new fur industry. I found this mink purse for $35, and a silver fox wrap for $25 at an estate sale! They both needed a little TLC, and I've already replaced the lining and strap of the purse (and am kicking myself for not taking good 'before' pictures of the inside lining). The fabric I chose was a paisley silk skirt I found at Goodwill- once again- repurposing. My next post I'll put pics of the finished product, and I think at least one of the pics shows a little of the ugly dusty rose lining it had before. And please don't throw red paint on me next time you see me;)

Owl is the old Wiser....
I recently went through my Granny Wiser's old jewelry boxes that I inherited. I always find something I haven't seen before, even though I've gone through all of it many times before. And I guess it is true that if you hold onto something long enough, it will come back around! As evidenced by this darling owl pendant I found that belonged to the original 'Wiser' woman. What a sweet connection to my darling Granny. It's legit vintage people!
